- Worldwide:
Sean O'Hare (w/Jindrak announcing) vs. Mike Rotta? (or something
like that.) Typical Worldwide squash w/a Senton finish for the win.
6 man tag: Cory Williams w/2 Jobbers vs. Jung Dragons: Nice high spots
from Dragons and Jobbers. Funny moments as Jobbers do the "Karate Kid"
pose. Funny stuff. Reverse piledriver (Muken?) by Dragons for the win.
Dragon chick comes out and berates the dragons and makes them kiss her
feet.
3 way dance: Guest ref Madusa (biggest pop so far), Paisley vs.
Tygress vs. Major Gunns: Not much here. Paisley w/a 2nd rope spinning
heel kick on Gunns for the pin.
Now for Thunder:
Lance Storm w/Elix Skipper & Reluctant Major Gunns cut promo for Lance
and then the Canadian Anthem starts. HUGE heel heat for this until Gunns
ripps off shirt and reveals a USA bikini top. Canadians cover Gunns
w/flag.
Lance Storm/Eli Skipper vs. Kronic: Nice power spots Kronic. Typical
Kronic spots, Meltdown etc. Major Gunns "nut shots" Storm with flagpole
allowing the HIGH TIMES by Kronic for the win. Skipper attacks
guns and MIA run in for save. HUGE pop for Kronic.
Black limo pulls up w/ Big Sexy, JJ, and Big Poppa met by Natural Born
Thrillers. We had audio problems all night and couldn't hear a lot of
promos.
Big Sexy, JJ, Poppa, and NB Thrillers come to ring and trash Goldberg
and Booka. Booka comes out and says he's got backup and out comes Vito,
Awesome, and the Animals. Big melee ensues.
Mean Gene interviews Gen. Rection.
Ad for Flair and Daffney wedding.
Reno vs. Awesome Mullet. Nice T-Bone by Reno! Reno messing w/Crowbar in
the crowd. Awesome Bomb for win. Reno pulls Crowbar from crowd and beats
him until Daffney pulls him off.
During break Awesome attacked by JJ. Jimmy Hart!!! attempts to break it
up.
Schiavone and Orndorff (Mr Wonderful) with taped interview regarding the
lack of respect for Paul from NB Thrillers. NB Thrillers come out during
promo with signs reading "Arent you dead already," "Ordorff = JOB,"
then they all turn over their signs and say "We Rule". Yeah, right.
Taped segment of Reno taking a lead pipe to the dome from Big
Poppa.
Mike Sanders cuts promo for match 2nite vs. Booka.
Jindrak and O'Hare vs Animals for tag titles: Konnan is SOOOOOOOOO tired
on the mic w/his crap. Jindrak says "Some parents lost their kids. And
they are right here in the ring" referring to the animals. Juvi w/Dragon
'Rana and Rey w/ Guillotine leg drop off the top for win.
Nash threatens Sanders regarding match later tonight. JJ hands Nash a
piece of paper and says he wants this match tonight.
Jindrak and O'Hare jacked by Pipe and Pump. No audio again!!! Damn WCW
production!! Or lack thereof.......
Sanders vs. Booka : Booka w/the Bookend finish in less than 2 minutes.
No offense for Sanders.
JJ taking blood pressure, saying, "I've gotta be in top shape for the match
of the year 2nite"
P&P connection (Poppa and Pipe) take out Sanders for his loss.
Vito vs. Palumbo: w/Stasiak on commentary: Vito wins with jumping DDT.
Palumbo has a funny shot from back trying to hide from Big Poppa Pump
but gets a shot from the pipe anyways.
JJ praying with Guitar and candles. wierd stuff.
Gen. Rection/AWOL vs. Harris Brothers: Not much to report... at the
beer stand for this one. AWOL through table. Storm hits Gen. Rection
w/flag and Harris Bros. punk out the ref cuz he saw it all. Kronic run in
from crowd and hits a HIGH TIMES on a Harris boy. No Laughing Matter
from Rection. Storm puts Rection in Maple Leaf.
Jung Dragon chick says they are going to be in "intensive training" and
then shuts the door to the locker room. JJ again praying in dark room
w/candles.
Kwee-Wee vs. JJ (the stroke master!): Good match and excellent heat for
JJ. I think JJ liked giving Kwee-Wee the stroke a little too much.
Arm Wrestling Match: Stasiak vs. Orndorff. Typical "give and take" arm
wrestling spot. Orndorff w/piledriver and "weak ass" chairshots on the NB
Thrillers.
Black limo w/ CAT and Mrs Jones. (damn she looked good)
Cat challanges Nash and out comes the NWO band. All 3 NWO members rush
the ring and attack the Cat. Chaos ensues and Mrs. Jones gets the "slap
nut" guitar shot from JJ. Run in from Booka and Animals, and
finally Stevie Ray gets up from the annoucer's table but doesn't do
sh*t. Stevie takes heat from Booka for not helping sooner. Typical
cluster finish by Russo.
All in all it was a good show for a wrestling-starved audience. DJ Ran
and the Nitro Girls kept the crowd hot during the breaks. Later DaZe
all!!
A whole continent away in Fayetteville, NC, the WWF taped Thursday's
SmackDown!. Compiled from three different e-mail recaps, here's as complete
a report of the tapings as I could come up with (apologies if details are
sparse):
- Dark Matches: it was all the Mean Street Posse, as Rodney and Pete Gas
defeated the Dupps, and Joey Abs beat Just Joe.
- For Sunday Night Heat: the Goodfather beat Grand Master Sexay.... Test
and Albert defeated the Acolytes (the Dudleys interfered against the
Acolytes, in an angle set up later in the night/"three days earlier" on
SmackDown!).... Steve Blackman retained the Hardcore Title with a win over
Gangrel.... Crash beat the Big Bossman.
- SmackDown! opened with a long in-ring promo that saw Stephanie
McMahon-Helmsley essentially align herself with Kurt Angle (as a result of
her being struck by Triple H on the PPV). Chyna got involved, and tried to
talk sense to Steph, but for her troubles, she got attacked by Angle. This
immediately got Eddie Guerrero into the mix for a big brawl. This segment
also set up a storyline twist in which Triple H was arrested on charges of
spousal abuse, stemming from the PPV incident.
- Solidly a babyface, the Road Dogg beat Bull Buchanan via clean pinfall.
- The Hardys and Lita beat Edge/Christian/Jackie; Jeff scored the pinfall
over one of the tag champs following a Swanton Bomb.
- Al Snow defeated Perry Saturn to win the WWF European Title.
- The Undertaker had to settle for a disqualification win over Chris
Benoit; Taker got the win because he was attacked by Kane during the match.
- Chris Jericho beat Tazz in a well-hyped singles match; both men cut good
promos before the actual contest.
- Kaientai got a pinfall win over the Dudley Boyz, thanks to an assist from
the Acolyte Protection Agency.
- Val Venis was victorious over Rikishi, but only thanks to the help of the
Right To Censor faction.
- In the SmackDown! main event, Kurt Angle defeated Eddie Guerrero, using
Chyna's IC Title belt as a weapon while en route to the victory.
